Exmoor: The Country Magazine is a magazine for all who love Exmoor, residents and visitors alike. It is a lifestyle magazine based on country living but reflects the fact that many of Exmoor’s visitors come from towns around the area and that Exmoor residents rely on these towns for services. Distribution of the magazine covers an area from Bideford in the west to Bridgwater in the east and southwards down to Crediton. It is available from newsagents and village stores throughout that area. It is also available by subscription and subscribers live throughout the world.
The magazine is published quarterly, based on the four seasons. It includes sections on: food and drink, gardening, fashion, hair and beauty, interiors, property, interviews, arts, heritage, walking, equestrian activities, farming, photography, settlements, books, events, business and leisure activities. Everyone has a different view of country living but we know that those living on the moor couldn’t exist these days without market towns for shopping, visitors, opportunities for entertainment and much more and the magazine has articles to interest country and urban dwellers alike.
Publication started with the Winter 1997 issue under Halsgrove publishers, then based at Tiverton. At the end of 2009 a team of friends and colleagues joined together to take the magazine forward and keep Exmoor’s local publication truly local! We have a new base at the Exmoor Pony Centre, Ashwick, where you are welcome to pop in and say hello. We hope that you will pick up a copy or subscribe and, by enjoying an excellent read, help to support the magazine’s future! We would also like to thank the loyal readers and advertisers who have played a part in Exmoor The Country Magazine’s success over more than a decade and everyone who has sent in kind comments about our updated design.
Many of the contributors write for other publications, some of which are national periodicals, and have published books. We are lucky to have their services and those of professional photographers, both local and those who have made the area their home. We are also lucky to have the continued services of our experienced Editor, Hilary Binding, and , Advertising Consultants, Zara Media. Contact details can be found here if you wish to contribute to the magazine or advertise in it. |
